Why liver cleanse?
In the industrialized developed world, we are immersed in a huge ocean of toxic chemicals. The Environmental Protection Agency estimates that over half-a-million chemicals exist in our environment. Our rivers, seas, water supplies, foods we eat, exhausts, all interact with us on a daily bases. We find out more and more daily that some of these chemicals may be carcinogenic. Our liver is where these chemicals build up; increasing our bloods toxicity leading to decreased health and well being. This is why it is important and even crucial to do a liver cleanse at least once a year. For some people it may even be beneficial to cleanse the liver more than once a year. A sluggish liver can lead to serious fatigue, weight gain, insomnia, depression and a host of other ailments. Detoxification and cleanses that target the liver can help remove these unwanted poisons and enable it to function properly. A healthy liver will increase your energy, improve metabolism, and help you burn excess fat.
I don’t think that in our time, we will see a reduction of these environmental toxins. We then need to be responsible for our own health. We need to take the knowledge we have learned through science and apply this knowledge in a way helps us regain our health. Sad to say, many people wait too late until they are feeling symptoms. If you are feeling symptoms or not feeling well, headaches, insomnia, inflammation, or depression, you may be experiencing an upsurge of liver toxicity. By the time you are not feeling well; your liver is well on its way to becoming toxic. This is why doing a liver cleanse or liver detox is so important.
When a person’s liver enzymes begin showing high, this is an indicator that there is inflammation in the liver. This of course could mean many things. The take-away is that something is causing inflammation. Usually when high liver enzymes are encountered, you doctor will take other tests to farther identify the culprit. In many cases, an answer may not be found. This is also a good time to do a liver detox, to see if you can bring those high enzymes down. If they do come down, the possible cause could be these toxins causing the inflammation.
